Holding Space: The Energy & Anatomy of Touch with William Hufschmidt Next held on Fri, May 3, 2019 at 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm
This enrollment runs from Fri May 3, 2019 - Sun May 5, 2019
Healthy and effective touch has the power to encourage insight at all levels of experience and to cultivate deep presence. As yoga teachers and therapists, we use touch to communicate with our clients/students, inviting them to feel into the present moment and all that it offers physically, emotionally, and energetically. Holding space comes from an understanding of both the physical and energetic qualities of touch, as well as the powerful experiences that can result from our connection with one another. As we become more fluent holding space for our own experiences, we gain skills and confidence to hold space for others.

This 20-hour experiential course invites you to develop your existing skills for self-observation, partner dialogue and healthy touch. To practice the art of holding space, we will explore a variety of practices, including basic Thai Yoga Therapy, which can teach us how to respectfully and safely move and touch another person’s body, while sharing dialogue to communicate levels of pressure, intensity, boundary, and satisfaction!  Earn 20 CE hours for Yoga Alliance.

Thai Yoga Basics with William Hufschmidt Next held on Fri, Nov 1, 2019 at 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm
This enrollment runs from Fri Nov 1, 2019 - Tue Nov 5, 2019
This foundational course teaches the basic principles of Thai Yoga (Nuad Boran), a healing and spiritual practice from Thailand that many have nick-named “Lazy-human's Yoga.” Each participant will learn a basic Thai sequence that should take 90-minutes when skills are proficient.

The sequence will include Sen Line techniques, soft tissue compression, and joint mobilization while supine, prone, seated, kneeling, and side-position. The program also includes instruction on safely moving another person’s body around and how to use props to support and stabilize your receivers.

Each day, participants will trade sessions with other participants to build confidence working with a variety of bodies, as well as give themselves a self-massage to further develop sensitivity for touch that is effective, attuned and adaptable. We will also review anatomy and good body mechanics as the course unfolds.

This program is a deep immersion into healthy, sacred touch, and offers practitioners a rich, first step towards offering Thai massage professionally.
