What the heck are these classes?

We pride ourselves in offering you the best classes and styles for learning and experiencing yoga. Sometimes it's a good idea to get off the beaten path and try something new! Have you considered taking Barre, Amrit Yoga, Iyengar Yoga or Yin Yoga lately?

Here is a quick guide to these classes and what to expect:

Barre is a challenging workout that combines pilates, yoga and ballet to give you a sculpted lean body. This class concentrates on the areas we struggle with the most: hips, thighs, seat, abdominals and arms. A Barre class combines small isolated holds and tiny movements paired with tremendous mental concentration to tone, lengthen and strengthen the entire body. This class is for all levels and anyone can join at anytime. Expect a challenge and prepare to leave feeling calmly energized.

Amrit Yoga

The class is based on a 26 posture sequence designed to break the reactive patterns of stress and negative thoughts. It combines a mixture of standing, balancing and floor poses with plenty of time and space in between to notice and feel the energy in your body. This Meditative class is a unique offering at Yoga at Simply Well. Paul is the only active Amrit teacher offering classes in the state of Pennsylvania. There is no music so that you can truly experience this class as a meditation in motion.  Read more about the Amrit Yoga method.

Iyengar Yoga

(pronounced eye young gar) focuses on proper alignment. We use props such as blankets, belts, bolsters and chairs combined with detailed instructions to allow for longer holds in the poses which serve to awaken the body's intelligence. Expect to develop strength, stamina, concentration, coordination and flexibility. It is accessible for students of all ages and physical conditions, however we do not recommended for brand new students. Learn more.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a practice of longer held "stretchy" postures to get into the body's connective tissue (ligaments, tendons and fascia). Sustaining postures for 3-5 minutes allows your body weight and gravity to deepen into the pose. Through Yin, one develops "core flexibility" as opposed to "core strength" while simultaneously opening energetic pathways. Even though the pace of this class is very slow, we do not recommend it for beginners unless you already have a keen sense of body awareness and know how to take care of yourself in class.
