Amy Necci & Maggie Stonecash

Amy completed the Kids Yoga Teacher Training at Yogi Beans Studio in New York City. She also completed the Mindful Schools Curriculum Training in Virginia and a Freestyle Meditation Program at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.

Amy is a Pennsylvania native who grew up in Milton. She began her teaching career in the Pocono Mountains where she taught for 7 years. She has felt a strong connection to the Carlisle and Boiling Springs communities since moving to the area in 2007 to continue her teaching career. Amy believes that yoga and mindfulness can benefit anyone and that the skills learned through these practices are especially important to teach to today's youth.

Amy has been passionate about practicing and living yoga and mindfulness throughout her adult life and strives to incorporate this into her other passion – working as an educator. She holds a B.A. in Spanish and a B.S. in Education of Spanish from Bloomsburg University and a Masters in Education from East Stroudsburg University. She also studied abroad at La Universidad de Pontificia in Salamanca, Spain and at La Universidad de Puerto Rico.

Maggie has been practicing and integrating various styles of yoga and mindfulness into her life and career as an educator for many years. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance and a Certified Special Education Teacher with a Masters in Education from Shippensburg University. Maggie has found various ways to integrate her passion for youth education and yoga. She attended the Mindfulness in Education Conference and completed the Mindfulness & Yoga for Children Teacher Training at the Omega Institute, to further her ability to tailor programming to the needs of students of all ages and backgrounds. Maggie has taught yoga to middle school and high school students in alternative and special education settings, public schools, and youth groups in the area. In addition, she has taught yoga to elementary students through the Carlisle YWCA programs. She has a deep belief in the power of yoga and mindfulness to help young people learn how to focus, concentrate, and develop skills to manage stress and emotions, as well as increase self-awareness and self-esteem. Maggie became a Carlisle community convert after graduating from Dickinson College in Sociology and working for the College Farm.

Amy Necci & Maggie Stonecash instructs the following:
  • Tween Yoga 6 Week Series, Grades 6-8
  • Tween Yoga will incorporate yoga poses, breath, and relaxation while encouraging the individuality and creativity of each middle school aged student. Through discussion, mindful games, and concentration techniques deeper explanations of yoga concepts are explored in a supportive and fun atmosphere. Yoga helps to develop focus and self-control, while giving exercise to all systems of the body. No prior yoga experience is necessary.
    Minimum of 5 pre-registered students for the full series is required to run the program.
    Pre-registration is required by Friday, November 30
    Dates: Sundays December 2, 9, 16, and January 6, 20, 27 from 12:30 - 1:30 pm
