-how to do the pose safely with proper alignment
-getting in and out of the pose
-different variations of the pose including basic, moderate and advanced variations
-using props to go deeper & get more support
-how long to hold the pose
-benefits & precautions

This month we will focus on Spinal Twists.  "The spine is at the center of yoga." The benefits to twists in yoga include increasing spinal mobility, maintaining or improving spinal health (in particular the intervertebral discs and joints of the spine) and promoting healthy circulation. Twists are also known to neutralize the body and complement other categories of asana (such as forward folding and heart/chest opening).

Yoga and Tibetan Singing Bowls with Brooke Wiley Sat, Dec 8, 2018 at 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm

When played, Tibetan Singing Bowls vibrate and produce a deep, rich tone.  The "singing" sound is remarkable, a powerful, long lasting harmonic hum that is both stimulating and calming.  Many proponenets claim that these vibrations can create beneficial changes within the body by reducing stress, "harmonizing" the cells and balancing the body's energy system.

Join yoga instructor Brooke Wiley and musician Melinda Schlitt as they offer 75 minutes of yoga asana combined with the harmonic tones of Tibetan Singing Bowls.  They will explore the power of Yoga Nada, discovering the union of mind and body through sound and movement.  Poses will include hip and heart openers to induce a sense of harmony, well-being and interconnectedness.  This workshop is appropriate for all levels of yoga student.

Melinda Schlitt plays numerous instruments and loves the opportunity to share her collection of Tibetan singing bowls with Yoga at Simply Well. Cost $20
